Business Insurance Online

By Michael Thomas

Business insurance is important for any business if they want to be successful. A company that fails to plan ahead by neglecting to find business insurance could be ruined in a moment with a single claim. Business insurance can be divided into two categories: Property and Casual Business Insurance (P & C), and Business Employees Benefits. The former is important for the business's protection and the latter is more for the satisfaction of the business's employees.

There are many different categories of Property and Casual Business Insurance. Some are required by law for most businesses, while others may only be necessary for more specific types of businesses. One of these types of P & C insurance is General Liability Insurance Coverage. This protects you against claims by third parties. A single law suit could completely ruin your entire business, so this type of insurance is very important to get.

If your business is involved in professional services, you will also need Professional Liability, Errors, and Omissions Insurance. This includes insurance agents, medical providers, lawyers, and accountants. This insurance protects you against lawsuits in the case of you or one of your employees making a mistake that negatively affects a client.

Workers Compensation is another important type of insurance. Any company with employees will have to have this insurance, since it is required by law. It is especially important to have good Workers Compensation insurance if your employees are involved in manual labor, because they may get hurt on the job.

Commercial Auto Liability Insurance is necessary if your business has company vehicles. You may need to have company vehicles if you transport goods or people during business hours. The following things are generally included in a Commercial Auto Liability package: auto liability, collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, uninsured or under-insured motorists coverage, medical payments, coverage for borrowed or rented autos, and coverage for employees' personal vehicles when they are used for work purposes.

The other category of business insurance is Employee Benefits. Included in this is health insurance, dental insurance, pension plans for retirement, life insurance, disability income, and vision insurance. A business may choose to have all of these, some of these, or even none of these. Health insurance is the most commonly offered. Businesses may choose to offer these to their employees for a few reasons: for employee morale, to reduce employee turnover, and for tax benefits.

To find business insurance online, you can look at the websites of the different insurance companies and request a quote online. Many companies offer both P & C Insurance and Employee Benefits Insurance. There are also websites such as NetQuote.com and 2insure4less.com which will give you quotes from several different insurance companies so that you can compare them. This is for a fee, of course. Some of the companies offering business insurance you may want to look at are: Nationwide, Farmers, State Farm, The Hartford, Travelers, Allstate, and American Family. Many of the websites aim to make signing up for business insurance as easy as possible.
